Serena Williams catches some waves in a pair of ill-fitting bikini bottoms

Tennis champ Serena Williams may have decided to sit out a recent tournament due to injury.

But she was keen to get involved in the sport of surfing as she caught some waves on the beach in Hawaii.

Unfortunately for the tennis champ, her itsy bitsy red bikini bottoms left her somewhat exposed, as it failed to cover her athletic physique.

Serena tried out longboarding with her rapper and actor boyfriend Common.

The pair have been linked together previously, with Serena previously appearing in one of his videos.

While Common looked comfortable on his surfboard, Serena had to show bit more determination as she struggled to stay on board.

Yesterday the tennis champ looked relaxed as she showed off her toned and honed physique, as she emerged from the sea after a cooling dip.

The Wimbledon champion was seen in the South Beach playground with her close friend, Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland.

Serena's non-appearance at the tennis tournament saw her lose her World Tennis Association No. 1 ranking to Serbian player Jelena Jankovic after pulling out.
