Charlize Theron slobs out on the beach in a frumpy playsuit

Charlize Theron may be a Hollywood A-lister but when she's not working, the actress likes to slob out just like the rest of us.

The 33-year-old star proved she was just an ordinary girl at heart, when she took her dogs for a walk along the beach in Malibu, California.

Wearing a baggy blue playsuit, cap and flip flops combination, her casual look was a million miles away from her glamorous red carpet image.

Just chilling: Charlize Theron opts for a casual look as she takes her dogs for a walk along the beach in California yesterday

Yet despite wearing an outfit which would reduce most mere mortals to shapeless blobs, the Hancock actress still looked radiantly healthy and showed off an enviable pair of pins.

Charlize was accompanied on her stroll by her mother Gerda, who was dressed in a similar casual outfit and flip flops.

The star previously proved that perfect looks were not top of her agenda, when she put on weight to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2004 film Monster.

Keeping mum: Charlize is accompanied by her mother Gerda and a host of furry friends

At the time of the movie, which won her an Oscar, she spoke out against the culture of beauty in the showbiz industry.

The actress, who was named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive in 2007, said: 'Somewhere along the line we forgot what actors do.

'All of a sudden, somehow, the fashion industry crept into the movie industry. Celebrity has really taken over and overshadowed what actors do.

'Actors aren't supposed to be beautiful; actors are supposed to tell human stories, but that kind of got lost.'

Charlize Theron drinks Margaritas and sings karaoke in bizarre chat show appearance

Charlize Theron was in high spirits as she appeared on U.S. chat show The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night.

The South African actress swilled a Margarita and sang a karaoke version of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody during her appearance to promote her new film The Burning Plain.

The Oscar winner, 33, admitted she'd 'maybe' had an alcoholic drink before joining host Jay Leno on stage.

Spirited: Charlize Theron told dirty jokes and swilled a Margarita during her risque appearance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night

During the interview, Theron drank a Margarita, sang, giggled and told dirty jokes, to the delight of Leno.

After Theron arrived on stage, Leno offered her the Mexican tipple, asking: 'Did you already have one backstage?'

Theron replied: 'Maybe, maybe... I like that we have a little tradition, me and you.'

Leno replied: 'We are very original. We just get drunk.'

When asked what she does while under the influence of alcohol, Theron explained: 'There are very few things I won't do when sober and singing is one of them.

Crooner: Theron and Leno duetted a version of Bohemian Rhapsody

'You have to really get me to a certain stage.'

Sipping the Margarita, Theron exclaimed: 'Let me see if this is the real deal.... Dang! That's good.'

After being encouraged to show off her karaoke skills, Theron agreed to sing Bohemian Rhapsody on the condition she stayed seated.

She admitted: ' will fall or something... It's not going to be pretty.'

After a disastrous duet between Theron and Leno, the actress declared: 'That was horrible.'

Theron's offer of a sip of her Margarita was declined by Leno, who joked 'I had some Ecstasy a minute ago'.

Just before cutting to an ad break, Leno told viewers: 'Goodnight everybody, I've been cancelled.'

Galaxy of star tennis fans turn out to see brave Andy Murray mauled in New York final

Celebrities were out in force last night to watch as British tennis star Andy Murray was soundly beaten by Roger Federer in the final of the U.S. Open.

Spiderman star Tobey Maguire was spotted eyeing up Star Wars actress Natalie Portman before the action started.

Elsewhere in the Arthur Ashe stadium, Oscar-winner Charlize Theron took in the match with her hunky actor boyfriend Stuart Townsend.

Roll up, roll up: Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron arrive to watch the Mens Final at the US Open in New York

The golden couple were spotted listening in to radio commentary as the young Scot failed to prise the title from Federer

Crooner Harry Connick Jnr took his seat beside wife and actress Jill Goodacre after singing the U.S. national anthem to the crowd. The singer also swapped jokes with veteran comedian Gene Wilder.

Meanwhile, billionaire tycoon Donald Trump and his gorgeous wife Melanie struggled to keep their young son Barron quiet during the match.

Former ER star Julianna Margulies was also in the crowd with her husband Keith Lieberthal. And fashion mogul Ralph Lauren together with wife Ricky could be seen sitting behind jazz star Tony Bennet and his much younger partner Susan Crow.

Murray has been star-struck by the famous audience during his run at the tournament.

‘This is my favourite tournament. I had the guys from Entourage, which is my favourite show, and Will Ferrell, who's my favourite comedian, watching yesterday. You don't get that at home,’ he said after his semi-final match against Rafael Nadal.

Smooch: The Irish actor kisses Theron between points

It had been 72 years since a British man won a Grand Slam title and Murray's fans thought the tennis star might be the one to end the drought that had lasted since Fred Perry lifted the trophy at Wimbledon in 1936.

Fans on both sides of the pond were glued to the potentially historic final against Roger Federer after Murray had beaten Spain's Rafael Nadal on Sunday night.

But the aggressive underdog, in his first Grand Slam final, failed to stop Federer winning the US Open for the fifth time.

The 27-year-old from Switzerland won the match, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 in just one hour and 51 minutes. The one-sided contest ensured Federer's 13th Grand Slam title.

During the tournament it seemed that Murray had put the disappointment of the Olympics behind him to play what some people said was the best tennis on his life

On Sunday he had treated his fans to a thrilling contest played out over two days – rain stopped play on Saturday.

He eventually took the match 6-2 7-6 4-6 6-4.

Nadal, who had beaten the Scot in all five previous matches against him, fought back in the third set.

The tennis ace has a growing number of loyal fans despite not being the most endearing of British sporting stars.

The dour Scot has struggled to win over English supporters after commenting during the 2006 World Cup that he would support any football team that was playing England.

He has since dismissed that as purely a joke, and insisted that he is very fond of his English grandmother.

Last night’s match against Federer, the current world number two, came after the Swiss player criticised Murray after their last meeting.

In March Murray knocked Federer out of the Dubai Championships in the opening round. But Federer, who has not won a Grand Slam this year, did not believe that his opponent had developed since they first met in the final of the 2005 Thailand Open.

'I don't think he has changed his game a whole lot since the first time I played him and I really thought he would have done,' Federer said after the match.

'He is going to have to grind it very hard in the next few years if he is going to play this way.'

Minnie Driver's baby bump steals the spotlight at red carpet premiere

There was no shortage of A-list stars vying for attention, but all eyes were on Minnie Driver's big baby bump at the LA premiere of Hancock last night.

The 38-year-old star, who wore a thigh-skimming, off the shoulder number, revelled in the spotlight, proudly nursing her belly as she sashayed along the red carpet.

Curves ahead: Minnie says she will be in no rush to shed her pregnancy weight after the child is born

She was joined at the event by the film's leading man Will Smith - who plays an alcoholic superhero - as well as his co-stars Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman.

While Minnie was more than happy to put her bump on display, she is less forthcoming when it comes to the baby's father.

She still hasn't revealed his identity, saying again this week: 'He's not in the public eye and he shouldn't have to deal with all that stuff. It really is private.'
Will Smith

Family matters: Hancock star Will Smith with eldest son Trey, wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Jaden and Willow

Asked if the mystery man will be involved in the child's upbringing, she replied 'Sure. He's going to be a dad.

She continued: 'I'm not married and I'm not getting married to this person. But I am taking full responsibility for being a mother. Everyone is grown up and kind of cool.

'I just want to create as happy and as loving an environment as I can. I've got this amazing family so I'm not really worried. But I don't know what's going to happen. I take life moment by moment.'

Going with the flow: Charlize Theron, with boyfriend Stuart Townsend, wore a glamorous gown for the occasion

Minnie, who is due in August, plans to take around six months off work and insists she'll be in no rush to lose her pregnancy weight.

She told Hello! magazine: 'I don't know what this celebrity obsession of getting your pre-baby body back in the shortest time possible is all about.

'It's the most unhealthy thing and it's horrifying that you should somehow get back into a size two a couple of weeks after giving birth.

'So plan on seeing me podgy and fat, knocking around in Malibu and proud of it.'
