Teri Hatcher attempt to seduce ex-husband

She's been criticised in the past for being stick-thin but now now Teri Hatcher has a different kind of weight problem to deal with.

These pictures from an episode of the latest series of Desperate Housewives show that the actress has gone from one weight extreme to another by piling on the pounds.

Desperate Housewife: The slender Teri Hatcher wears a fat suit for her character Susan Mayer's flash forward

But thankfully the slender star was just wearing a fat suit to film a 'what if' flash forward scene set 20 years in the future on Wisteria Lane.

It featured in Sunday nigh's episode in the States and includes scenes when each housewives imagines what life would be like if they had made different choices.

Hello, there: Susan tries to seduce ex-husband Mike Delfino in an attempt to avenge her husband Karl's infidelity

Defeated: Her advances rejected, Susan licks her lips in anticipation of some more comfort eating

In her flash forward scene, Teri, who plays ditsy Susan Mayer, considers what would have happened if she'd stayed with her first husband Karl.

She sees herself as unhappy and overweight after venting her rage at his infidelity through comfort eating, before she tries to seduce second husband Mike Delfino, played by James Denton.

In the same episode, Eva Longoria's character Gabrielle Solis takes a glimpse into her future and sees herself as a wrinkly old lady with long grey hair.

In her flash forward, Gabrielle, or Gaby as she's known to her friends, is determined to be an interfering mum and make her daughter a famous actress.

As she shuffles around in a dressing gown, she pleads with a casting agent on the phone to give her youngest daughter Celia a job.

In another scene, stills of which were not been released to UK fans, character Bree Van De Kamp, played by Marcia Cross, considers what would happen if she divorces ex-dentist husband Orson Hodge, played by Kyle MacLachlan.

The popular drama started its sixth series in the US in September but is not expected to air in the UK until this Spring.

British viewers were left with a cliffhanger of an ending to series 5, when fans saw Mike Delfino marry, but the bride's face wasn't shown, leaving everyone guessing whether he got hitched to Susan or rival Katherine Mayfair.

It was also reported today that Dexter star Julie Benz has joined the cast for the current series and plays a stripper who befriends Susan.

Desperate Housewives Susan and Katherine have bubble bath fight over Mike

It seems Katherine Mayfair is plumbing the depths in her bid to woo back her lover Mike Delfino in Desperate Housewives.

Jilted Katherine (Dana Delaney) calls up the plumber and tells him she has a broken tap, but interrupts him in the throes of passion with wife Susan (Teri Hatcher).

Mike (James Denton) makes a dash to her home and she answers the door dressed in saucy underwear.

Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Mike (James Denton) are rudely interrupted by a phone call from his former lover Katherine (Dana Delaney )

However Katherine is shocked to discover Susan has also turned up.

Her furious love rival soon discovers Katherine's tempting plan as she finds champagne and chocolates for two in the bedroom and sees she has also run a bubble bath.

Things then take a turn for the worse as the pair embark upon a fight, which ultimately ends with them taking a tumble together into the suds.

Things turn nasty after Susan (R) discovers Katherine has laid out champagne and a bubble bath to tempt Mike back into her clutches

The scenes were screened in the U.S. last night, but British viewers will have to wait until next year to tune in and see who ends up worse off.

Season six of the hit show started Stateside last month. Earlier this year season five ended on a cliff hanger with viewer left wondering who Mike would marry - Susan or Katherine.

But despite him deciding to go back to Susan, who he has a young son with, it seems Katherine is lot ready to let go just yet.

Brave Christina Applegate dazzles on the Emmys' red carpet

Christina Applegate bounced back from her recent breast cancer battle to grace the red carpet of the Primetime Emmys Awards in Los Angeles last night.

The 36-year-old actress looked dazzling in a one-shouldered, sky blue Reem Acra gown as she arrived at the Nokia Theater in Hollywood.

Just a month after she had announced she had beaten breast cancer after undergoing a double mastectomy, Applegate showed she was fighting fit and back in action.

Grecian goddess: Christina Applegate bounced back from her recent health problems to look stunning in a blue and gold gown at the Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last night

Speaking on the red carpet, she told reporters: 'Things happen, and you have to really, really embrace your life. It's a great day… I've got a pretty dress on and lipstick, and (it's) something I haven't done in two months... Things happen, and you have to sit back and really, really embrace your life.

'For me to have a voice and be the voice of a 30-something-year-old girl going through this and dispelling the misnomers that it's an older woman's disease is a big part of this for me.'

Applegate was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series, but lost out to 30 Rock star Tina Fey, who also took home a writing gong for the same series.

Winning women

One of Britain's big hopes last night, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant went home empty-handed, despite being nominated in three categories for Extras: The Series Finale.

Sunday's Emmys turned out to be a big night for U.S. comedy 30 Rock, with Fey taking home two awards and Alec Baldwin winning Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series.

Meanwhile, Glenn Close was also honoured with an Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series accolade for Damages.

Close paid tribute to her fellow category nominees, Sally Field, Mariska Hargitay, Holly Hunter and Kyra Sedgwick, as well as Dame Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, saying: 'We're proving that complicated, powerful, mature women are sexy, high entertainment and can carry a show.'

Despite not being nominated in any acting categories this year, the cast of Desperate Housewives were definitely winners in the fashion stakes... at least most of them.

Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Nicollette Sheridan went for colourful strapless gowns, while Felicity Huffman opted for a full-length silver glittery gown.

Bucking the red carpet trend for flowing couture, Eva Longoria Parker made a fashion faux pas in a silver Marchesa flapper-style dress with an oversized bow.

The distracting bow and loose-fitting dress will inevitably fuel the pregnancy rumours which have surrounded the actress over the last couple of months.

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher also attended the event, turning heads in a strapless chocolate-coloured confection.

While his spokesperson told the New York Post's Page Six the pair are "not dating," von Teese's lawyer, Keith Fink, reveals Piven coyly said hello to her when he ran into her at an LA newsstand right before he purchased the dresses.

Said Fink: "She is single, and she's not dating, so he should step up to the plate because there's a lot of guys interested."

Hollywood goes Halloween: It's Paris Hilton in Wonderland

Partygirl Paris Hilton led the Hollywood party pack in the fancy dress stakes as she donned two different similarly saucy outfits for a weekend of Halloween shindigs.

First up was a nautical theme, as Paris stepped out for a pal's fancy dress bash in Hollywood's Bel Air.

Paris in Wonderland: Paris Hilton donned two revealing outfits for a weekend of Halloween partying

Wearing a strapless corseted minidress decorated with anchors, topped off by a sailors hat, Paris showed plenty of her perma-tanned leg.

But it was her second outfit in which she upped the raunch factor as she adopted a demented Alice in Wonderland theme with a white PVC minidress, with layered petticoats, suspenders and stockings.

And the final touch of drama, a pair of bizarre contact lenses.

Cheeky girl: The wannabe actress revealed rather too much from behind in her demented Alice in Wonderland style frock

Paris was letting her hair down after working on a film in Toronto all week and after getting in a row with an adult movie shop which was promoting her infamous home-made sex tape 'One Night in Paris'.

Petulant Paris demanded that the promotional posters were torn down, and threatened to sue the store for all they had. Apparently while wearing another costume - this time a skeleton and mask outfit.

But the ex-jailbird wasn't the only celebrity out on the Halloween prowl. Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher, looked a right fright dressed as the Queen of Hearts at the Dream Halloween charity bash.

Wearing a face full of clown-like make up, and a tightly corseted ball dress, Hatcher's outfit was a red carpet nightmare. But on this occasion it was fitting.

As did Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter Rumer, who dressed as a showgirl.

But the weekend's hot ticket party was actress Kate Hudson's Hollywood bash. Attended by on/off boyfriend Dax Shepard, Mary-Kate Olsen and father Kurt Russell.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler looked as if he was wearing his stage-make-up as he joined the stars out on the town for the big party weekend.
