Sanjay Dutt offers to kiss Maya, gets FIR
Actor Sanjay Dutt ran into trouble again on Saturday when he was booked on obscenity charges for allegedly offering to kiss and hug UP chief
minister Mayawati in a "jaadu ki jhappi".
"A case has been registered against the film star and SP leader Sanjay Dutt for making derogatory and undignified remarks against chief minister Mayawati during an election rally held at KP Hindu College ground on April 16," a senior police officer said.
During the rally in Pratapgarh, Dutt allegedly said he "will give 'jaadu ki jhappi and pappi' (magical hug and kiss) to the people of Pratapgarh and given a chance "will do the same to chief minister and BSP supremo Mayawati".
The 49-year-old actor was barred from contesting the elections by the Supreme Court last month. He has been slapped with a notice for violating the model code of conduct by making derogatory remarks against a woman. Dutt is required to submit a reply within three days. This is the second FIR against the SP general secretary in less than a week.
Reacting to the move to book actor Sanjay Dutt for his alleged remarks against UP CM Mayawati, Pinki Jowel, Pratapgarh district magistrate said, "We have issued a notice to Dutt for violation of the model code of conduct for his objectionable remarks against the chief minister. His statement goes against any woman."
Besides his 'jaadu ki jhappi and pappi' remark, Dutt in the rally at Pratapgarh said, "In her governance there are taps but no water, bulbs but no electricity, and hospitals without beds".
The election rally was organized by supporters of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya for Samajwadi Party candidate Akshay Pratap Singh. The stage was shared by Jaya Bachchan.
On April 14, a case was filed against him for allegedly making communal remarks at an election rally in Mau district. Dutt had allegedly told the meet that in police custody, he was given third degree torture because his mother was Muslim.
The latest FIR was lodged by an administrative officer Riyazuddin under section 294 of the IPC (obscenity in public place) and is punishable with imprisonment of three months or fine or both.
