Newly single Kym Ryder glams up for girls' night out with Coronation Street co-star

If Coronation Street star Kym Ryder was nursing a broken heart following the recent breakdown of her marriage, she certainly didn't let it show as she prepared for a night on the town with co-star Michelle Keegan.

The 31-year-old actress appeared in good spirits as she enjoyed a pampering session at Manchester's Robert James salon with her costar and partner-in-partying, Michelle Keegan.

The pair spent the afternoon primping hair and doing each other's make-up before heading out to a fashion event at Selfridges that evening.

They were already dress in their frocks - Michelle, who plays Tina McIntyre, wore a glamorous full length orange gown while Kym opted for a strapless number.

Kym, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor, looked in the mood for a girls' night out after finding herself single since splitting from her actor husband Jack last month after nearly six years of marriage.

The couple, who married in 2002, said there was no one else involved and the split was amicable.

In a statement they said: "With great sadness, Kym and Jack Ryder have decided to separate.

"Their separation is amicable and they remain friends with Jack continuing to see Kym's children, David and Emily."

The couple met at the BBC's studios in Elstree in 2001 while Jack was acting in EastEnders and Kym was appearing on Top of the Pops with her pop group Hear'Say.

In August 2002, they married at St Alban's Cathedral, Hertfordshire, at a ceremony attended by celebrities including EastEnders actors Barbara Windsor and Steve McFadden.

They had a trial separation a year later after "experiencing some turbulence" in their relationship, according to the actress's management company.

Jack Ryder, 26, who played Jamie Mitchell in the BBC One soap opera, announced he was quitting the show in March 2002.

While Jack's career has struggled since, Kym's star has soared since joining Coronation Street in 2006 after leaving Hear'Say.
