Lily Allen lives it up in La La land

Lily Allen may be in Los Angeles on business, but she's finding plenty of time for pleasure too.

The Smile singer took a break from working on her second album for a day of pampering, hitting a nail salon for a pedicure before stopping off for a sweet ice cream treat.

The fun didn't stop there. The 23-year-old moved on for a shopping spree on Melrose Avenue, where she bought bags full of sneakers.

The singer was trailed by a pack of LA photographers, but appeared more than happy to be centre of attention.

She wrote on her blog yesterday: 'I have never been followed like we were today, there were literally 20 cars of [paparazzi] with us.

Apparently taking a leaf from Britney Spears' dating book, she adds: 'Not that I'm complaining, they were perfectly pleasant, in fact we had a bit of a laugh with them and I quite fancied one of them.'

But she was critical of the paparazzi on one front, urging them to downsize their gas-guzzling SUVs, writing: 'Boys, go green.'

It has certainly been a busy couple of days for Lily since touching down in the country.

She was spotted dining at Il Sole with Hollywood party girl Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend Samantha Ronson on Monday night.

And she promises her album is coming along nicely, assuring fans she's just written a track 'that will blow your minds'.

Coleen slums it on budget hen do (while Wayne splashes out on £250,000 stag)

While Wayne Rooney spent £250,000 on his four-day stag party in Ibiza, his bride-to-be was slumming it on a budget hen do in Tenerife.

Coleen McLoughlin shunned five-star luxury in favour of a one-bedroom holiday apartment, preferring quiet nights in with her group of three friends.

Coleen was avoiding partying so that she could look good for her wedding.

She flew to Tenerife last Tuesday, swapping the couple’s £4million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, for her aunt’s modest flat with a small terrace in The Heights, a development near the resort of Los Cristianos.

And as soon as she arrived back from the Canary Islands yesterday, she was off to her hairdresser in Liverpool to keep up appearances.

‘Coleen just wanted to take it easy in Tenerife,’ said a friend.

‘She was happy for Wayne to have a chance to let his hair down, but her mind is focused on the wedding.
‘She wants to look her absolute best and that means plenty of rest and drinking lots of water, not drinking alcohol into the early hours.

'She is so excited – she cannot stop smiling.’

Has Sienna’s onscreen love triangle spilled over into real life?

It is a tale of seething jealousies and violent passions – but it is one rapidly in danger of being matched by the real-life dramas of its leading actors.

When The Edge Of Love opens later this month, it will do so amid fevered speculation that the on-set closeness of two of its stars, Matthew Rhys and Sienna Miller, was the
catalyst for the end of Sienna’s year-long romance with actor Rhys Ifans.
Sienna Miller
On the town: Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys at a showbiz function last year

Certainly the chemistry between the two as they take on the roles of Dylan and Caitlin Thomas at one of the most volatile periods of their marriage is undisguisable.

But while that on-screen frisson may bode well for the film’s success, it seems to have done for Sienna’s relationship with Ifans.

Last week, it was reported that the couple had split when Sienna, tired of Ifans’s jealousy and suspicion, called a halt to the relationship that once looked destined to end in marriage.

Sienna Miller
On location: Rhys and Miller in their roles as Dylan Thomas and wife Caitlin

Ifans, 40 this year, is understood to have been unhappy at the amount of time that Sienna, 26, was spending with Matthew, 33, during increasingly frequent visits to Los Angeles to prepare for the film’s promotional campaign.

The pair have been seen dining out together in LA several times and, while they deny any romance, Ifans’s unease was heightened by the fact that Sienna had dated Matthew up to the time when Ifans and she became a couple last summer.

Ifans – best known for his role as Hugh Grant’s flatmate Spike in Notting Hill – is a successful actor and popular man, famous for his wild-living, natural charm and haphazard approach to personal grooming.
Sienna Miller
Happier times: Rhys and Sienna strolling hand in hand in West London last month

But he was branded a ‘traitor’ by Matthew and Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd – fellow members of the Hollywood ‘Taffia’ – when he and Sienna got together. Until then, the three men had been firm friends.

Such conflicts of love and friendship also lie at the heart of The Edge Of Love. The film focuses on an infamous event in 1945 when the Welsh poet was said to have been shot at by the husband of Dylan’s first love – Vera Killick.

Keira Knightley plays the glamorous former dancer turned singer Vera. Keira, 23, was originally cast in the role of Caitlin but opted for the more sexy character of Vera.

In its depiction of overlapping affairs and hedonistic creativity, the story of Dylan, Caitlin and Vera could rival anything that London’s louche Primrose Hill set, on whose edges Sienna existed thanks to her relationship with Ifans, has to offer.

The plot chronicles the time, shortly after the birth of Dylan and Caitlin’s daughter, Aeronwy, when their marriage is in crisis in the face of his alcoholism and their mutual faithlessness.

Then Dylan has a chance meeting in London with childhood friend and former lover Vera Phillips and the die is cast.

Vera marries her fiance William Killick, played by Cillian Murphy, 32, but soon embarks on a torrid affair with Dylan.

It is complicated by the unlikely friendship that springs up between Vera and Caitlin – two women who should, after all, be total rivals.

As the film’s female leads, Sienna and Keira embrace the feisty, free-spirited characters of the women they portray.

The images of the girls – kicking about in their wellington boots, Forties cardigans, wrinkled stockings and woollen skirts – may appear carefree and innocent, but an undercurrent of lesbian lust underpins this depiction and adds another side to the love triangle.

When the betrayal is uncovered, Vera’s husband, a commando, launches his furious attack on Dylan. In reality, Killick was cleared by a jury of attempted murder, despite Dylan’s evidence about a gun attack.

Big Brother frenzy as housemates split up for hen and stag parties

Despite being locked up in a compound 24 hours a day, Big Brother's fake couple Mario and Stephanie ironically celebrated their last night of 'freedom' ahead of their faux wedding today.

On Day 3, the Big Brother house was split into two camps for Stephanie's hen night and Mario's stag night - but not all the females were invited to party with the bride.

Earlier in the evening, Big Brother asked Stephanie to create her wedding party and after initially asking Thai masseuse Kathreya, she then asked for volunteers.

The groom's real-life girlfriend Lisa quickly volunteered to be one of the bride's attendants, then Stephanie chose Rachel and Rebecca.

The over-excited fivesome did a jig together, as remaining female housemates Sylvia, Jennifer and Alexandra sat glumly on the sofa.

Despite being left out of the hen party, Big Brother informed the trio they would join Mario and the boys for the stag party.

Referring to the female fun she would miss out on, Jennifer said: 'I bet there's a lot of high-pitched screaming going on in that room.

'We're gonna have a party and we're not invited. Get in. Why are they doing this to us.'

Sylvia agreed: 'This is torture. Torture, baby.'

Left out: L-R - Alexandra, Jennifer and Sylvia are unhappy they weren't chosen as bridesmaids

There was a catch, however, for the female attendees of the bucks night - they had to dress as Playboy bunnies

Sylvia, Jennifer and Alexandra refused to don the bunny costumes, but compromised by wearing the rabbit ears.

Single mum Jennifer complained: 'To me it's something you'd wear in the bedroom.'

Blind radio producer Mikey responded: 'Something you'd wear in the bedroom? Boo! It's all for Mario.'

With the girls out of earshot, the stags Mario, Darnell, Mohamed and Rex complained they had 'shown their true colours' by refusing to don the raunchy outfits.

In a bid to humour the stags, Dennis, Mikey and Dale decided to dress up as the bunnies for the bash - albeit not as sexy as the three girls would have looked in the costumes.

As Mario pleaded with the bunnies to be gentle with him, camp Dennis purred: 'Oh baby, I'll be gentle.'

The Big Brother garden had been cornered off for the stag do for the night and dancer Dennis soon had the mischievous idea to tie the 'groom' naked to the lamppost.

Dennis shouted: 'We have to tie Mario to the lamppost when he gets drunk.

'The girls could pour beer over him.'

Meanwhile, the bedroom was strictly girls only as the bride's party combined partying with planning the big day.

Stephanie was thrilled to see Big Brother had laid out a selection of wedding dresses so she could choose the style which suited her best.

Earlier in the day, Stephanie chose white flowers for her faux marriage.

As 19-year-old Stephanie proudly declared she didn't get hangovers, Lisa insisted they should all get drunk and simply ask Big Brother for painkillers in the morning.

Former beauty queen Rachel said: 'I'm up for it girls, but I'm warning you I don't normally drink very much so I apologise for tomorrow when I'm being sick.'

Over-excited Kathreya thrilled to 'blushing bride' Stephanie: 'You have the sparkle of a bride about you.'

Once the champagne started swilling, Stephanie began to defend her 'marriage' plans to her hens after becoming aware their were some doubts their 'relationship' was genuine.

Stephanie said: 'People have been doubting us. I know it's weird. I think they've offered us a chance to get married just to freak yous out. I think they will do something mad.

'I'm not going to snog his face off just because everyone tells me to.'

Rachel reassured the bride, saying: 'If you were stuck to him like glue, everyone would be slagging you off.'

Stephanie continued: 'I'm going to marry him, because I want to... I have had major doubts. I'm not going to lie to you.'

Then Mario's real-life girlfriend Lisa piped in: 'What's the worst case scenario? You split up.'

Oh baby: could Paris be carrying beau Benji's child?

Unless she has been taking some of Britney Spears prescribed medication, hotel heiress Paris Hilton looks to be carrying a little baby bump.

The 27-year-old socialite, who has made it no secret that she wants to have children ,looks to be carrying a new bundle of joy.

Could she be following in the footsteps of her best mate Nicole Richie’s footsteps?

After fuelling pregnancy speculation in a green dress earlier this week, the following day Paris attempted to cover up her rounded stomach as she partied in Las Vegas for her new reality show.

Something to hide? Paris Hilton looks coy on the red carpet as she covers her stomach in a slimming black dress and belt

Wearing a slimming black dress and strategically placed belt, Paris shied away from pregnancy talk as she posed at a party to promote her new show My BFF at Tao nightclub.

Her spokesperson has denied the hotel heiress is expecting, telling Us magazine: 'The rumours are completely false.'

Over the past few years, the socialite has regularly spoken of her wish to be a young mum - her own mother Kathy Hilton gave birth to Paris when she was 19.

Last year, Paris said: 'I know in my heart of hearts I would be a great mother. I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after and I feel that I would have a lot to give to my children...

'I don't want to be an old mom — hopefully it'll happen soon.'

Baby bulge? The hotel heiress looked a little bulky in the stomach area as she stepped out in Hollywood

On Thursday night, Paris stepped out to dinner in LA with her boyfriend Benji Madden wearing a emerald green dress and at a close glance the stomach was quite bulky.

The couple have been dating since February and have publicly declared their deep love for each other.

In a recent interview on America's Sirius radio, Benji said: "We have known each other for a long time, and I've always known the real Paris. I always knew that she was like...wife material or serious girlfriend material.

"You just want to get on top of a mountain and go, I'm in love! But your fans would probably make fun of you."

When asked if he would consider marrying Paris, he replied: "Nothing would make me happier. Wow, alright. Ok. I'm not gonna bet against you on that. We'll see. I'm very, very happy right now."

Paris has been engaged twice before - to American model Jason Shaw and Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, while Benji ended his engagement to Australian singer/actress Sophie Monk just weeks before he started dating the hotel heiress.

Liz Hurley upstages the bride AGAIN as she steps out in a canary yellow dress

Elizabeth Hurley managed to upstage the bride AGAIN yesterday as she stepped out in a stunning canary yellow dress and an over-sized cartwheel hat.

The 42-year-old looked the image of perfection as she left her London home today for the wedding of society writer William Cash and Venezuela-born socialite Vanessa Neumann.

While Hurley opted for summer brights, husband Arun Nayar and son Damian - who was a pageboy at the ceremony - opted for the more toned down shades of black and white.

Ahead of her wedding to former Spectator writer Cash at Westminster Palace, 'the Cracker from Caracas' attempted to settle her pre-wedding nerves by smoking in her bridal gown.

Cash, who claimed he is dramatically poorer after his 2007 divorce from Bulgari heiress Ilaria Bulgar, proposed to Neumann on New Year's Day in the exclusive Caribbean island of Mustique.

The 41-year-old son of Eurosceptic MP Bill Cash proposed to Neumann, 35, during a tropical storm.

Little McConaughey on the way: Matthew's girlfriend reveals her enormous baby bump

Matthew McConaughey is set to become a dad any day now if these pictures of his pregnant girlfriend are anything to go by.

He recently admitted that he couldn't wait to be a dad:

"I'm looking forward to the big baby adventure. Hopefully I'll make a good daddy.

"My child is going to have culture and travel, that's one of the great benefits of my business."

The excited actor insisted that he and Alves have no plans to marry:

My parents were divorced twice and married three times to each other.

"I believe in the institution but I don't feel you have to marry. A kid just needs a mom and a dad," He said.

McConaughey, 38, has reportedly cleared his work schedule indefinitely in order to spend time with the baby:

Footballer Robbie Keane marries his sweetheart in star-studded wedding after six years of dating

Robbie Keane is quite used to taking orders from no-nonsense figures on the sidelines – but usually they’re not wearing a skirt.

That was the case yesterday, however, as the 27-year-old footballer meekly followed instructions from a pretty blonde wedding planner on the day of his marriage.

Keane and 25-year-old Claudine Palmer – also a pretty blonde – tied the knot yesterday after six years of dating, exchanging vows in a Ballybrack church before whisking away for a marquee reception at the Ritz Carlton at Powerscourt.

Press, locals and football fans gathered yesterday afternoon outside St Alphonsus and Columba Church, eager to get a glimpse of the high-profile couple and their famous friends.

Non-guests were kept at bay, however, as seven security guards ensured they stayed at a distance – when the men weren’t trying to tame decorative flower arrangements which repeatedly fell over.

The corporate-suited wedding planner patrolled the grounds all the while, clipboard and walkie talkie in hand.

The first notable event of the day occurred when the 120 guests, being transported by three Bus Eireann buses, arrived at 2.30pm on the dot – marking a punctuality coup not only for the guests but for the infamous bus company.

Among the guests were Irish footballers Damien Duffy, Shay Given, Gary Breen, Gary Kelly, Ian Harte and Richard Dunne. Tottenham Hotspur club mates Jermaine Jennas and Ledley King also attended.

Footballer Jamie Redknapp and his wife Louise rounded out the sports contingent, and caused a flurry of excitement among onlookers when they caught a glimpse of the pair.

Irish guests included former Miss World Rosanna Davison, who attended without a date and wore a toe-length blue and green strapless dress. Model Pippa O’Connor, with her presenter boyfriend Brian Ormond, also joined the celebrations.

The groom arrived next, pulling up in a black Bentley Continental at 2.40pm.

He was soon followed by mother-of-the-bride Joan, who turned heads with her mode of transportation – a Phantom Rolls Royce – in addition to her glamorous outfit: an enormous feathered head piece and short glittering dress.

The long-awaited moment occurred, however, when her daughter arrived – also in a Phantom Rolls Royce, and 13 fashionable minutes late.

Claudine Palmer

The former Miss Ireland contestant looked stunning in a traditional white gown with a long train, glammed up with a WAG touch – a zigzag of diamonds down the front. She clutched a bouquet of yellow roses.

Friends said she was nervous, but she looked calm and radiant as she headed towards the church door, decorated with white candles and white roses.

The bridesmaids – Robbie’s sisters Tash and Amy – wore long silver, figure-hugging dresses created by Limerick designer Fiona Whyte.

Robbie’s best man was his brother Graham, and his niece and nephew, Tasha and Craig, acted as a ringbearers.

The ceremony lasted just under an hour. Claudine walked down the aisle on a specially-laid white carpet, and Mary Black – who had arrived more than an hour early to rehearse – sang at the ceremony with the Dublin Gospel Choir.

When the wedding party poured out into the church yard, they were kept separate from the press by the diligent security guards.

The happy newlyweds left through a separate door and posed for only three minutes – just enough time for Robbie to lovingly kiss his bride. Guests showered the couple with white rose petals before they disappeared into a stretch limousine and were ferried off to the Ritz Carlton.

Guests were again transported by Bus Eireann coaches, this time taken to the hotel for a rose Laurent Pierre champagne reception.

Robbie and Claudine booked out the entire Ritz Carlton for the event, and a huge marquee was erected on the picturesque grounds.

Chris De Burgh and another band were hired to entertain guests – but Jamie Redknapp predicted that the groom might try to help them out.

‘I suspect by the end of the evening Robbie will be up on stage singing an Irish song,’ he said.

The celebration will continue today with a special outdoor barbeque for guests.
